The 23rd edition of the Model Regulations (Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods) is now available to download for free as a pdf online and with tracked changes.
Notable changes in the 23rd edition include new UN numbers and classification methodology for sodium batteries (including the new sodium ion entries, plus updates for other types of sodium batteries).
There are new provisions for battery powered vehicles; including new entries for vehicles powered by lithium batteries and sodium ion batteries.
It’s not all about batteries though! (Although they do feature quite heavily). There are updated provisions for a whole range of substances, from compressed gases, to COVID test kits, vaccines and ammonium nitrate.
If you’re looking into dangerous goods compliance and would like to get a good idea of what some of the amendments will be in ADR, the IMDG Code and the ICAO TI/IATA DGR from 2025, then this is a good place to start. These rules will feed-down into the regulations for each mode of transport from 2025.
A tracked changes version can also be found to download, all from the UNECE website here: https://unece.org/transport/dangerous-goods/un-model-regulations-rev-23
