From April 1st 2016, sites in England that produce greater than 500 kg of hazardous waste per year, will no longer be required to register with the Environment Agency.

This will change the way in which hazardous waste consignment notes must be coded.

The premises code or exemption reference will no longer be required, instead this is replaced by the first six digits of the company name.

In addition, the 2007 list of SIC codes must be used for the SIC code, as oppose to the 2003 list.

The Environment Agency have published new guidance and a FAQ document to help waste producers and waste management sites interpret these new requirements.
